Devices Used in Laser Hair removal

Thursday, January 29th, 2009
If you want those unsightly hair removed, laser hair removal is the best thing to do.
Various types of laser hair removal devices are available today.

  1. Alexandrite lasers were use din laser hair removal in 1997 upon itsĀ  approvalĀ  by the FDA. The Alexandrite lasers produce beams of red light in the spectrum of visible light. There are five different types of alexandrite laser are available. These include Apogee, GentleLase, Epicare, Epitouch Alex, and ULTRAWAVES II-III. Usually, their wavelength of 755 nanometers is very effective but only safe on the skin. Alexandrite lasers are long-pulse and has a greater depth of penetration.
  2. Diode Laser was authorized by The FDA in 1997 to be used as an effective method of permanent hair reduction. They produce a wavelength of 800 nanometers in width pulses 5-400 milliseconds and was proven effective in the treatment of embodied and lashes works well on dark hair. The Light SheerXC is a diode laser is extremely powerful. Some other types are diode lasers EpiStar, Apex-800, IRIDEX and Mediostar.
  3. Ruby lasers which were approved by the FDA for laser hair removal in 1997 were not as effective. Laser damage does not extend far enough down into the hair to cause permanent hair removal laser. Originally there were five types of ruby lasers, which only two are still available for commercial use. A Ruby lasers operate on a short wavelength of 694 nanometers only.
  4. Neodymium Yttrium Aluminum Garnets have a greater wavelength which makes them more effective in the long term, and according to some people, even permanent hair removal laser. There are two types of Nd: YAGs lasers. These are the Q and the tension along the pulse. All Nd: YAGs produce a wavelength of 1064 nanometers. The Q switched neodymium yttrium aluminum garnet has a very short pulse of approximately one nanosecond. Long pulse Neodymium Yttrium Aluminum Garnets have a pulse of approximately one millisecond and can be used on all skin types.
