Post-Laser Hair Removal Care

So you’ve undergone a laser hair removal treatment, what happens next?
Although laser hair removal is but a simple process, it will still require skin care in the area that has been processed. In general there is little recovery time with respect to laser hair removal procedures. You can usually return to normal activities immediately after treatment. However, it is important to take the time to follow the recommended guidelines for monitoring to protect against the risks of complications and reduce any discomfort that may be felt later.
Here are some helpful care tips for you to remember:

  • The first thing that you will notice sfter laser hair removal treatment is for the skin to be slightly swollen and red in the treated area. Some people describe it as a mild sunburn, usually with slight irritation. Place a cooling preparation like a  cold compress  or aloe vera on the affected area to remove temporarily any mild burning sensation. Some people experience this burning sensation for a few hours only, while others can feel it for a day or two. This is the time it takes for skin to return completely to normal.
  • Apply sunscreen to the total area that was treated with laser hair removal if it will be exposed to the sun. A sunscreen with an SFP of 30 or more should be applied. Irritation and burning of the treated area may result from the slightest exposure to sunlight. Sunlight should be avoided for three weeks after laser hair removal. This will avoid having to hyperpigmentation.
  • Use moisturizing creams to help prevent tissue crusts or crust. These creams can be purchased at the counter or prescribed by your doctor. It is generally not necessary to use antibacterial cream. In fact, antibacterial creams can cause drying of the skin in the area that was treated with laser hair removal. Healthy skin is important for the success of laser treatment and moisturizer every day will help keep the skin in this way.
  • Unless the skin is not broken, it is advisable to apply makeup in areas of the skin that have undergone laser hair removal treatments. Makeup should be used and implemented new with fingers or a sponge own news. Mark also contributes to the act as a sunscreen.
